Hord Foundation partnership helps children ‘soar’ in classroom
In May 2018, Gabrielle’s wings broke ground on a $250,000 new playground project in Gabrielle’s honor at the William B. Ward elementary school in New Rochelle, New York. Gabrielle’s former principal, Franco Miele, her Girl Scout troop, former teachers, and many friends and family joined in the emotional groundbreaking.
A dedication of “Gabrielle’s Corner” was held on Thursday, August 16th at the Huguenot Children’s Library, located in front of New Rochelle High School. The lovely reading nook and specialized collection of books is a gift made in memory of Gabrielle White, who was suddenly granted her “angel wings” in June of 2017.
NEW ROCHELLE – A $10,000 donation was made Friday to Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson in memory of Gabrielle White, a 7-year-old who was killed this June.
Gabrielle’s mother, Michelle Hord-White, made the donation through the Hord Foundation, which was established by her parents in Connecticut in 1993 to bolster their efforts providing educational scholarships to disadvantaged youths of African descent.

Gabrielle’s Wings, partnered with Cape Gateway International Church (Pastors Steve and Louise Flandorp) based in Cape Town South Africa and the US based missionary foundation, Believers World Outreach. Through these partnerships “Gabrielle’s Corner” was launched, a new Learning Resource Center at Cape Gateway International Church, which will includes an Internet Café that will help provide iPads, computers, and curriculum for children in the community. This is the only such resource center within 30 mi.² of this Pelican Park Township.
Gabrielle’s Wings, in partnership with Believers World Outreach, a US based missionary foundation, Sagebrush Church, and Hope Haven (a safe house), launched two “Gabrielle’s Corners.” With a Gabrielle's Corner in Sagebrush Church and also with a corner at Hope Haven, these areas will will provide curriculum and resources to encourage and empower children. Those children who complete the curriculum created for Gabrielle's Corner, will have the opportunity to receive a scholarship through Believers World Outreach to attend school.
